Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro has been the topic of discussion on several occasions, but its launch period continues to remain in the dark. The last time this was talked about, we reported that Apple might have delayed that launch date to 2021, suggesting that it would take a while before a redesigned MacBook Pro would be sold to the public. However, according to a different analyst, the release of this new machine could take much sooner rather than later, and it might even bear a higher resolution.
Redesigned MacBook Pro Could Launch in September of This Year, According to IHS Analyst
In an Emerging PC Tracker reported for Q1 2019, analyst Jeff Lin believes that Apple will launch its brand new 16-inch MacBook Pro during September of this year. Bear in mind that Apple has never announced a Mac product at its September keynote, which is reserved for new iPhone launches, but let us see what the future holds. As for another key detail, the resolution, Jeff Lin believes that the new machine will resonate 3072 x 1920 pixels.
In contrast, the resolution of the current 15.4-inch MacBook Pro is 2880 x 1800, and this resolution has been retained on the larger machine for quite some time now. The analyst states that Apple will most likely procure the LCD screen from LG Display, so it will not be OLED technology, which is disappointing to hear. However, Apple could be transitioning to an all-OLED future soon, as a rumor states that the technology giant is reportedly in talks with Samsung to procure its OLED screens for future MacBook Pros and iPads.
Lin also claims that the 16-inch MacBook Pro would feature a newer processor. As of right now, the most powerful chip that can be outfitted in the 15.4-inch MacBook Pro is the monstrous 8-core Core i9 chip, so we’ll have to see what Intel launches in the coming months. Also, maybe a redesigned notebook can mean that Apple will improve the thermal design of the machine while maintaining the same slim profile as its predecessors.
The Touch Bar is expected to make a return, and we feel that the bezels of the notebook will be reduced considerably in order to maintain the same footprint as the 15.4-inch MacBook Pro. Still, we’d recommend that you take all of this information with a pinch of salt for now, and we’ll get to know in the future if Apple is truly interested in giving its customers a brand new machine.
