Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways: Chapter 2 – How to Unlock the Cliffside Door Using the Symbols

Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways

Resident Evil 4 “Separate Ways” DLC has arrived, letting players see what Ada Wong was busying herself with during the game’s main story (you can check out Wccftech’s impressions of the expansion here). Of course, as always with Resident Evil, Separate Ways contains its fair share of puzzles, secrets, and unique mechanics to unravel.

One of the first significant puzzles you’ll encounter in RE4 Separate Ways takes place in Chapter 2 after Ada Wong grapples along a series of cliffside platforms, eventually reaching a locked door featuring a large dial and a number of strange symbols. You won’t be able to progress through the DLC until you solve this puzzle, but thankfully, we have the solution for you. Scroll on down for the answer…

So, as you might expect, you need to press some combination of these symbols in order to open the door (3 of them, to be precise). So which symbols should you press? Thankfully, there are hints in the surrounding environment that tell you what you ought to select. The first one is just to your right in the alcove the door and dial are in. Easy-peasy.

Now, turn around as the next symbol is up on the cliff behind you.

The third symbol is a bit more tricky. Grapple up onto the high platform near the second clue. You’ll see some yellow paint on the end of it. Look down, and if you get the perspective right, the yellow paint on this platform and several below will form together to make an image.

Of course, you can also just skip all that if you want as these are the three symbols you need to select. I don’t think the order matters, although I selected in order from the nearest to the door (the one in the alcove) to the furthest from the door.

There you have it – Separate Ways’ first tricky locked door solved. Time to move on, as more horrors and brain teasers await!

Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways is available now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5. You can check out more of Wccftech’s Separate Ways guides here.
