Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max is rumored on multiple occasions to be the only handset from the company this year to feature a periscope zoom camera. This exclusive hardware is the primary reason why one analyst predicts that this model will make up between 35-40 percent of all iPhone 15 shipments and is expected to pave the way for a higher adoption rate of future iPhones with this exact upgrade.
iPhone 15 Pro Max shipments predicted to increase by up to 20 percent in H2 2024 compared to iPhone 14 Pro Max, likely due to the same reason
With only a few weeks remaining for the iPhone 15 launch to commence, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has come forth with another prediction, stating that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to be pushed hard by Apple thanks to its periscope camera. He also states that compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max, shipments of the iPhone 15 Pro Max should grow between 10-20 percent in the second half of 2024. Just recently, we reported about Omdia’s H1 2023 global smartphone shipment stats, with the iPhone 14 Pro Max being the most popular with 26.5 million units.
These numbers suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will command even higher shipments thanks to the periscope zoom camera. Additionally, Kuo comments that this exclusive upgrade will prompt an increased adoption of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, as the two are reportedly shipping with a periscope zoom camera. The larger iPhone 16 Pro Max may see exclusive improvements in this area, with an earlier report stating that a ‘super telephoto’ camera may debut with this version, encouraging even more upgrades when it launches next year.
Largan, who is the exclusive supplier of the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s periscope lens, stands to benefit immensely from Apple’s partnership, and since it is the technology giant’s only supplier at this time, it should be well compensated for this business alliance. However, a higher unit price for the flagship may be one reason why Apple is rumored to increase the price of its upcoming ‘Pro’ models by up to $200, but based on Kuo’s predictions, the company may not see decreased demand from the newest releases.
