iPhone 11 2019 Features Compiled: Big Batteries, New Camera, RAM Boost

The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max names were printed on unofficial Apple cases

Apple’s new iPhones are less than a week away from launch. Courtesy of the sparse information on the gadgets that has surfaced on the rumor mill, we have a fair idea of what to expect from them this year. Leaks for the iPhones follow a somewhat similar trend each year. Early on, analyst reports hint at the changes to be expected from the smartphones. Then, as the gadgets enter their supply chains, these rumored upgrades are either corroborated or left out.

This year, we’ve seen a similar pattern with the majority of leaks suggesting that the iPhone 11 lineup will feature camera upgrades. Now, as we head towards the smartphones’ launch, here’s a consolidation of what the supply chain expects the smartphones to feature. Keep in mind that there is no guarantee for these specifications to be 100% accurate; however, there’s a high chance that most of them will make it on the 2019 iPhones.

Apple Will Not Change iPhone Price This Year As Reports Continue To Mention Apple Pencil For iPhone 11 Pro & iPhone 11 Pro Max

First of all, we’d like to address the latest news related to the upcoming iPhones’ names. It’s expected that the company will change things slightly this year. The iPhone XR’s successor will be called the iPhone 11, while the other two gadgets will be dubbed as the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. If these claims are true, then the rationale behind Apple’s decision is clear.

By equipping the iPhone XR with an LCD and a single camera sensor, the company created an impression that the device is somewhat less premium than its counterparts the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. By naming all three devices as ‘iPhone 11′, the company will have reversed this perception on its upcoming smartphones. The reasoning is sound, and now we’re left to see whether the reports have merit to them or not.

Having sorted that out, let’s talk about the three devices’ price. As opposed to the multitude of dummies and case renders for the three iPhones that have permeated the interwebs, we’ve seen few speak up for their price. One such report surfaced in July, and it suggested that Apple will increase the iPhone 11’s (iPhone XR successor) price by 300 Yen in China. Prices for the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, on the other hand, will go up by 200 Yen.

Fresh reports from China claim to have updates over the report that we’ve mentioned above. The information comes from two sources, and both agree on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro’s price. This will be set at $749 for the former and at $999 for the latter. However, for the iPhone 11 Pro Max, their estimates differ by $50. One believes that the starting price for the iPhone 11 Pro Max will be $1049 while the other believes it will be $1099.

Prices go hand in hand with storage, and this time, supply chain sources believe that the iPhone will continue to offer 512GB internal storage. Samsung offers 1TB with its Galaxy S10 Plus, but looks like iPhone users will have to do with 512GB despite the big camera upgrade headed their way this year.

Speaking of memory, we’ve also got details for the smartphones’ RAM. Multiple sources believe that the iPhone 11 will come with 4GB of volatile storage, while the iPhones 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max will feature 6GB of RAM. A RAM upgrade on the iPhone is coming at just the right time. Primate Labs released GeekBench 5 a few days back, and the upgraded tests increase the memory footprint of workloads to gauge their impact on CPU performance.

Reports have even claimed that the iPhone 11 Max will include Apple Pencil support.

Display sizes for the three smartphones will remain similar to their direct predecessors and so will the resolutions. This isn’t surprising, as Apple will continue to use Samsung’s LT2 display material for the OLED iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. LT2 is a special variant of the Korean tech giant’s M9 displays which debuted on the Galaxy S10 smartphones earlier this year.

An intriguing report that surfaced last month made an oft-repeated claim for the iPhone. It’s the only one which claimed that Apple will bring Apple Pencil support to the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max this year. The report, based on case renders from Olixar (one of which you can see above). Olixar’s got mixed credibility when it comes to leaks, with the manufacturer’s gaffe for an ‘iPhone SE 2’ well known by regular readers.

However, one of the supply chain reports we’re quoting for you today also believes that this year’s iPhones will include Apple Pencil support. It believes that only the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max will support the stylus. This makes for the first corroboration of Olixar’s information, yet we’d advise you to take this bit with a grain of salt.

The rear microphone won’t be present on the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max suggests this image.

Concluding with camera and battery details, sources converge on a front camera upgrade across all three devices. While the iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max have 7MP front cameras, it’s believed that their successors will increase the resolution count to 12MP as Apple decides to introduce a new front camera sensor. On this note, we’re curious to see if the company introduces an upgrade to the iPhones’ True Depth camera setup, but so far, rumors for a potential upgrade in this area are scarce.

Apple’s 2018 iPhone lineup features 12MP cameras at the back, with their focal lengths, aperture widths and pixel sizes differing. This year’s iPhones will add a new camera sensor to the iPhone XR’s and iPhone XS/XS Max’s successors. The upgrades will once again be in the form of a 12MP sensor, but details for this upgrade’s other parameters are unknown right now.

For their batteries, it’s believed that the three devices will feature bigger cells. How this will affect their thickness isn’t clear, but dimension leaks for the smartphone do suggest thicker builds. For instance, alleged details for the iPhone 11 Pro Max that surfaced in April suggest that the device will be 8.1mm thick; the iPhone XS Max is 7.7mm thick. The specifics shared by sources indicate that the iPhone 11 will have a 3100mAh battery, the iPhone 11 Pro a 3190mAh cell and the iPhone 11 Pro Max a 3500mAh power pack.

That’s all for now folks. Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments section below and stay tuned. We’ll keep you updated on the latest.
