AirTag 2 Launch To Happen In 2025 Instead Of Next Year, Claims Sketchy Rumor, Will Support ‘3D Precision Finding’

AirTag 2

The AirTag has been a massive success, and thanks to the pairing of the tracker and Apple’s Find My network, users can track nearly anything. There have been instances where people have managed to re-locate their stolen cars, but there is a possibility that Apple sees room for improvement in the form of an AirTag 2. While an analyst earlier predicted that the second-generation tracker would arrive in 2024, one update is that it will launch in 2025 and will apparently arrive with a new feature.

‘3D Precision Finding’ could offer a more accurate way of finding your belongings with the AirTag 2

We have learned that the AirTag 2 will reportedly arrive with enhanced integration capabilities with the recently announced Apple Vision Pro, and it is also rumored to support spatial computing. While these additions should give owners an in-depth look at where their expensive belongings are when using the Find My app, LeaksApplePro on Twitter states that another feature coming to the AirTag 2 is ‘3D Precision Finding.’

With Precision Finding, any iPhone that supported the UWB (ultrawide-band) frequency could communicate with the AirTag, getting accurate directional details on their device. However, the range of Precision Finding was limited to 10 meters, or 33 feet, which is something the AirTag 2 can improve upon. 3D Precision Finding may allow a mini-map of sorts to be displayed on the iPhone, showing whether the tracker is present on a floor above them, below them, or is somewhere underground.

However, LeaksApplePro does not have the best track record when it comes to predicting product launches, whereas Kuo is actually connected with Apple’s supply chain, which gives him access to more reliable information. Due to these reasons, we still believe that the AirTag 2 will launch sometime in 2024, but there is a possibility that Apple will surprise us next year.
