The iPhone 15 lineup will reportedly go into mass production later this month, and Foxconn realizing that the upcoming series will be in high demand, is now rumored to be hiring aggressively as it prepares its workers to meet Apple’s shipment deadlines. To encourage new hires, Apple’s biggest assembling partner is offering an incentive bonus along with a base salary.
Foxconn’s total workforce during the iPhone 15’s peak shipping period may reach 10,000 employees
The Zhengzhou facility is Foxconn’s biggest assembling plant, and according to a report published by United Daily News and spotted by Patently Apple, around 1,000 workers are being added to the production line as Apple’s partner preps itself for the iPhone 15’s imminent launch. The rumored plans are to add 10,000 employees to the workforce, each getting a base salary of RMB 2,200 ($304) to those returning to work for the first time after their resignation and an incentive bonus of RMB 7,500 ($1,037) for the peak season.
Earlier, Apple reportedly informed its supply chain to start stocking up iPhone 15 units in the month of July, as the initial shipment run of the upcoming lineup is said to be 89 million units, making it 14 percent higher than the figure last year. Unsurprisingly, Foxconn is expected to receive between 50-60 percent of all iPhone 15 orders, whereas Luxshare is said to account for 20-25 percent of those orders.
It is possible that Apple wants a higher volume of iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max units stocked up before the launch, as these two models offer more exclusive upgrades compared to the regular versions. A device with more features will likely be in higher demand, and with the top-end iPhone 15 Pro Max rumored to cost $200 more, Apple stands to generate more revenue with each sale.
Foxconn could also be hiring well in advance as it does not want to repeat the same incident that transpired last year, where it had to temporarily shut down its largest assembling facility due to COVID-19 restrictions. Apple likely has backup suppliers at the ready just in case history repeats itself, but Foxconn will probably be eager to prove itself once more and, in the act, regain Apple’s trust and obtain flagship iPhone orders for next year.
