Pixel Watch 2 is Going to be Announced Alongside Pixel 8 in Just 5 Days

While Apple has totally dominated the smartphone market for years, the same cannot be said about the situation for Android/Wear OS-powered watches. Wear OS 3 was a revival that put Google back on the map, and Pixel Watch was something that the company was proud of, as well. Nowadays, the market has a healthy dose of wearables from both Apple, Google, and other companies, but now it seems the search engine giant is releasing another one--the Pixel Watch 2.

Google will unveil the Pixel Watch to at I/O 2023, followed by a release sometime in October

Based on the information obtained by folks over at 9to5Google, the company is going to release the Pixel Watch 2, and the watch will make its debut later this month with the Pixel 8 devices that the company is announcing.

Now, it is worth noting that earlier this year, we revealed that the Google Pixel Fold pre-orders will ship with the Pixel Watch. That is still very true. So, what is the point of releasing the Pixel Watch 2 when you are going to ship the older one? Well, based on past trends, Google has a habit of announcing their device during the I/O and releasing it later this year. The mainline Pixel devices get announced at the event and normally launch in October.

So based on that information, on May 10th, 2023, Google will announce the Pixel Fold, the Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel Watch 2, but the watch along with the Pixel 8 devices should be hitting the shelves in October of this year, while the rest of the devices will be available to purchase earlier.

Now, while I never got the chance to use the original Pixel Watch, I do know that it managed to make a name for itself despite the fact that it launched with a comparatively older chipset. However, I am hoping that Goolge actually comes with something better this year because I am sure there are going to be other smartwatches as well, and in that situation, it often becomes hard to compete. Here is hoping the Pixel Watch 2 packs some significant improvements over the predecessor and brings in a much-needed upgrade.

Considering how the existence of Pixel Watch 2 has surfaced, it would not be wrong to assume that we are going to start seeing teasers or leaked press material in the coming days. So stay tuned and you'll know everything you need to know.
