Latest leak suggests iPhone X and iPhone 8 models will feature support for iOS 17

It was reported earlier by a source on Twitter that Apple's iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus will drop support for iOS 17. Additionally, it was also coined by the leaker that the first-gen iPad Pro models and iPad 5 will drop support for iPadOS 17 as well. Today, a credible leaker claims that the notion is "simply incorrect." The unknown leaker suggested on MacRumors forums that all iPhone and iPad models that supported iOS 16 will be compatible with iOS 17.

The leaker has accurately speculated some of the major features in the past like Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro models. Henceforth, giving credibility to the leaks. Recently, the leaker also posed that the solid-state Volume and Power buttons on the forthcoming iPhone 15 Pro models will feature a low-energy microprocessor. The source claims to have sources inside Apple and the development team.

If the news has any heft to it, Apple would be following the same trend as it did with the launch of iOS 15. What this means is that all devices which were compatible with iOS 14 were bestowed support for iOS 15. Henceforth, all iPhone models that could run iOS 16 would support iOS 17 later this year. While there are chances that the aforementioned iPhone and iPad models will support iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, the final word rests with Apple, so be sure to take the news with a grain of salt.

The iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus are capable of being jailbroken thanks to a hardware exploit.
