This year, Apple will streamline the Dynamic Island display across the entire lineup. Apple has already detailed the display specifications to its suppliers like Samsung and BOE. Apple drops BOE's OLED display orders for iPhone 15 as it runs into light leakage production issues

As mentioned earlier, all four models of the iPhone 15 will gain Dynamic Island. Since the iPhone 14 sales were slow due to a lack of innovation compared to the iPhone 13, Apple is expecting significant returns this year, One of the major changes to arrive with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models in terms of design is the new display. What this means is that users will be able to enjoy the high-end feature at a lower price compared to the 'Pro' models. However, Apple supplier BOE is running into production issues and Samsung will take charge of the mishap.

Apple is quite strict when it comes to the quality of materials sourced from its suppliers. The Elec reports that BOE is encountering production issues with light leakage. What this means is that the display leaks light from a certain portion of the screen. In BOE's case, the light leaks from the Dynamic Island that houses all the required sensors for Face ID and the front camera.

With BOE looking to solve the issue, Apple has to keep up with strict deadlines. Henceforth, Samsung will begin production of OLED panels for the iPhone 15 models a month early. Initially, Samsung was expected to begin display production in June, With BOE"s light leakage issue at hand, the South Korean tech giant will begin production in May.

BOE was delegated to produce OLED panels for the standard iPhone models while display orders for the 'Pro' models are reserved for LG and Samsung. Apple has dropped its orders for BOE as of now but it could make a comeback as soon as it solves the light leakage issue. In contrast, LG will begin production of OLED panels for the iPhone 15 Pro in June.

Display specifications for both the standard and 'Pro' models indicate that ProMotion and Always-On display will be limited to the latter. This is because Apple wants the iPhone 15 Pro to keep a safe distance from the standard models, Apart from the display, the iPhone 15 Pro models are also slated to feature the A17 Bionic chip based on TSMC's 3nm process and solid-state buttons.
