We posted just a couple of days ago regarding der8auer’s Ryzen 3000 Series Boosting Survey and how the overall boosting of the Ryzen 3000 Series was coming up just shy of the advertised numbers. While Ryzen 3000 Series has brought a serious uplift in real performance over its predecessor it has been plagued by a bit of bad optics over the limited number of chips hitting their rated boost clocks and even falling a bit short of AMD’s own reviewers guide targeted numbers. Either way, I’m very happy to see that AMD has made a public statement in regards to their boosting algorithm for their 3rd Gen Ryzen 3000 Series processors.
As they put in the statement below they are currently preparing a new BIOS update for their board partners that will address the boosting of their Ryzen 3000 Series processors as they have identified an issue in their firmware. They will be providing an update on September 10th to the community in regard to the availability of the BIOS. This BIOS will likely not be available to consumers and end-users at that time as the motherboard vendors will have to prepare their specific board BIOS from there. Hopefully, this fix rolls out to all boards that support 3rd Gen Ryzen 3000 Series processors and isn’t limited to newer X570 boards.

In terms of pricing, the chip is better positioned against the Core i7-9700K than the Ryzen 7 3800X because it’s not only more efficient in terms of TDP but also has a lower price point.
