New NVIDIA GeForce 436.02 WHQL Driver Improves Performance in Various Games; New Ultra-Low Latency and Integer Scaling Mode Added

NVIDIA has released its new GeForce 436.02 WHQL driver which improves performance in various recent games and adds some new features.

According to NVIDIA, the new ‘Gamescom Game Ready’ driver improves performance of Apex Legends, Battlefield V, Forza Horizon 4, Strange Brigade and World War Z by up to 23%.
In addition to boosting framerates, the new 436.02 driver comes with a new GPU Integer Scaling mode and includes new ultra-low latency options for faster input response.

GPU Integer Scaling allows fans of retro and pixel-art games to be played on higher-resolution displays which preserves detail when the resolution is increased.

NVIDIA’s new Ultra-Low Latency options enables ‘just-in-time’ frame scheduling with should reduce latency by up to 30%. These new Low-Latency Mode is being released in beta with support for all GPUs in DX9 and DX11 games. According to NVIDIA, the game decided when to queue the frame when in DX12 and Vulkan titles.

Also worth mentioning is that this new driver adds a new FreeStyle Sharpening Filter which improves image quality and performance compared to NVIDIA’s existing “Detail” Freestyle filter.

“Freestyle sharpening is different from other solutions in a couple of ways: Freestyle gives gamers the ability to customize the amount of sharpness, from 0 to 100%, and apply this customization on a per game basis using the in-game overlay”, NVIDIA writes. “We believe sharpness is based on personal preference and varies from game to game, so with Freestyle we designed a simple solution that remembers your settings in each game.”

The new GeForce 436.02 WHQL Driver can be downloaded through GeForce Experience right now. The full release notes for this new driver can be found here.
