watchOS 5.3 is now available for download. It brings ECG support to Canada and Singapore users and restores the Walkie Talkie functionality too.
Apple has released the final version of watchOS 5.3 today and users in Canada and Singapore will be pleased to learn that they can now use the ECG feature in Apple Watch Series 4 right away. Furthermore, the Walkie Talkie feature has been restored in this release, which was previously disabled due to a security vulnerability. Here’s the complete changelog of the update:
This update includes new features, improvements and bug fixes and is recommended for all users:
– Provides important security updates including a fix for the Walkie-Talkie app
– ECG app on Apple Watch Series 4 now available in Canada and Singapore
– Irregular heart rhythm notifications now available in Canada and Singapore
If you rely on watchOS a lot, more specifically Walkie Talkie, then this is an update which you should download right away. In order to do so, just place your Apple Watch on its magnetic charger, connect to WiFi, launch the Watch app on your iPhone then navigate to General > Software Update. Tap on the Download and Install button as soon as the watchOS 5.3 update is available for download.
The update is available for the Apple Watch Series 1, Series 2, Series 3 and Series 4. For those who aren’t aware, the original Apple Watch does not support watchOS 5 or above therefore you are only limited to watchOS 4.x.
We highly recommend that you go ahead and install this update without giving it a second thought. There’s nothing better than an update that fixes lingering bugs and enhances performance in places where necessary.
