Today, Apple has seen fit to release the final build of macOS 10.14.6 Mojave to the general public along with tvOS 12.4 for supported devices. Apple Releases macOS 10.14.6 and tvOS 12.4 to the Public
As we have previously mentioned, Apple has released the final build of tvOS 12.4 and macOS 10.14.6 to the public. If you’re interested, you can install the relevant updates on your supported devices. Here’s what’s new and everything that you need to know regarding the updates.
macOS 10.14.6 Mojave
macOS 10.14.6 arrives over a month after the company seeded macOS 10.14.5 that brought AirPlay 2, and much more. If you’re up for it, macOS 10.14.6 Mojave can be installed on your Macs by navigating to the “Software Update” section of System preferences and then selecting the Update Now option.
As per Apple’s release notes, macOS 10.14.6 brings several Apple News+ improvements on the Mac. Downloaded issues of magazines are now available under My Magazine section of Apple Newa+. Apart from this, there is also a new option for clearing the downloaded section in order to free up space.
Apart from this, the update also includes several bug fixes and performance enhancements. Here’s the entire changelog for more details:
The macOS Mojave 10.14.6 update improves the stability and reliability of your Mac, and is recommended for all users.
This update:
– Makes downloaded issues available in the My Magazines section of Apple News+, both online and offline
– Adds all publications in Apple News+, including newspapers, to the catalog at the top of the News+ feed
– Adds the ability to clear downloaded magazine issues in Apple News+ by selecting History > Clear > Clear All
– Addresses an issue which prevents creation of a new Boot Camp partition on iMac and Mac mini with Fusion Drive
– Resolves an issue that may cause a hang during a restart
– Resolves a graphics issue that may occur when waking from sleep
– Fixes an issue that may cause fullscreen video to appear black on Mac mini
– Improves file sharing reliability over SMB
macOS 10.14.6 might be the last update before Apple brings macOS Catalina to the general public.
tvOS 12.4
Apple has also released tvOS 12.4 to the public and you can download it on the fourth and fifth-generation of Apple TV. The new update arrives more than a month after the company seeded tvOS 12.3 to the public, which brought about the updated TV app. The Apple TV+ will be available later this fall, so that’s another aspect to look forward to.
If you’re interested in trying the new build-out for yourself, tvOS 12.4 is now available to download via over the air mechanism through Settings. Simply navigate to System > Software Update and you’re good to go. if you have automatic updates enabled, the latest build will be downloaded automatically.
Other than this, there are no new forward-facing features available at this point. However, it might be too early to ask and we will wait for users to tinker with the latest build. Release notes for tvOS are not available, so it’s difficult to determine what Apple has included in the build. Nonetheless, there are bound to be numerous bug fixes and performance enhancements for a smoother experience.
