Shooter fans have been eager for more information for an entire year now, ever since they last saw the teaser reveal for Halo Infinite. The last year has been quiet, but now we finally have a little bit more information to go on.
Microsoft’s E3 2019 Xbox press conference included a brand new Halo Infinite trailer, introduced by Phil Spencer, showed us Master Chief himself and told us a bit more about the setting of Halo Infinite.
The trailer sees a pilot trawling space, and accidentally coming across Master Chief floating in space debris. After taking him aboard, he goes through the arduous task of powering up the suit (is John a robot or does the suit sustain him or something?) and awakening the legendary alien slayer.
Master Chief, being the efficient gunslinger he is, immediately asks for a status update, which isn’t good. Humanity has apparently lost everything, and outside of the spacecraft, Master Chief can see a shattered Halo ring. Remember that halo we built? Well baby, it’s tumbling down.
Fans will be happy to see something new from Halo Infinite, but at the same time, there’s still no new gameplay trailer. While there’s good reason to be excited for 343 Industries’ latest adventure, without any gameplay to look at, we really don’t know what we’re expecting.
Though, given the hype and expectations, Halo Infinite should be the next big mainline Halo game that fans are waiting for.
The game has finally received a release date of 2020. You won’t be able to play Master Chief’s latest adventure this year, unfortunately, but it looks to be worth the wait, especially when coupled with Microsoft’s new Xbox hardware.
Microsoft’s E3 2019 Xbox press conference was decent, yet a little underwhelming, and left some fans wanting something more, myself included. But when a conference includes titles such as Gears of War 5, Halo Infinite, Tales of Arise, and Elden Ring, it’s hard to complain.
