Galaxy A90 Could Arrive With a High-End Snapdragon 855 and ‘Tilt OIS’ Technology

Galaxy A90 could arrive with high-end Snapdragon 855

Imagine a mid-tier smartphone like the upcoming Galaxy A90 getting treated to flagship hardware like the Snapdragon 855? Well, imagine no longer, because according to a tweet from a well-known leakster, Samsung could be launching a mid-range handset and treat it to top-tier specifications with a little bit of improved camera technology.

Samsung’s Chinese competitors like Xiaomi and Huawei have provided less expensive solutions but with powerful internals to give customers better value in return. Looks like the Korean giant might have realized the significance of this category and will be releasing something similar in the future.

Galaxy A90 Earlier Tipped to Be the First 5G-Ready Smartphone From Samsung Belonging in the Mid-Range Category

According to OnLeaks, Samsung will apparently be preparing two variants of the Galaxy A90 and both of them will be powered by the Snapdragon 855, Qualcomm’s latest and greatest mobile silicon made on TSMC’s 7nm node. The models are numbered SM-A908, and SM-A905. According to OnLeaks, both handsets will have a 6.7-inch display and because it has been detailed in the tweet that both variants will have an in-display fingerprint scanner, it’s safe to assume that both handsets will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner.

SM-908 has been reported to support 5G networks, while SM-A905 will get the exclusive tilt OIS tech, but without 5G support. It has not been confirmed from Samsung what this technology will do for this smartphone but we have a hunch that it will have something to do with the rotating camera we’ve seen on the Galaxy A80.

OnLeaks has also mentioned in this tweet that both versions will have a triple rear camera system. A 48MP RGB sensor will have primary status, while an 8MP secondary and 5MP tertiary sensor will be running in the SM-A908. As for the SM-A905, it will have a 48MP + 12MP + 5MP configuration, and with that exclusive tilt OIS hardware, let us see what benefits this variant flaunts.

As a conclusion, we’re genuinely happy to hear that Samsung has finally started upping the capabilities of its Galaxy A-series of smartphones. Previously, the mid-range handset market was rife with opportunities and companies like Xiaomi, OPPO, Huawei, and others have taken considerable advantage of what this market has to offer. It may have taken Samsung a while to realize the potential of tapping into non-flagship categories, but at least the Korean technology behemoth is making a great deal of effort in providing better hardware to its customers.
