Google Nest Hub Max Has A 10″ Display, 6.5MP Front Camera & 75mm Woofer

With the advent of 7nm processors and 5G, we’re not far away from a truly connected future. Google’s taking advantage of this, and at the start of its I/O event today, the company announced a new product that’s called the ‘Google Nest Hub Max’. It’s a fresh start for the company that’s burdened by ‘Other Bets’ every earnings quarter, and with the new Nest branding, Google’s having another go. Take a look below for more details.

Google Consolidates Its Home Products Under The Nest Brand And Launches The Google Nest Hub Max

Google’s got a strong software base, and the company is leveraging it the best that it can. At the start of today’s I/O, the company announced the Pixel 3a. It’s a smartphone with mid-range processing specifications, but a camera punch that will rival some of today’s best smartphones. All this will be courtesy of Google’s software, and the company is also relying on this strength for the upgrade to its Nest Hub, the Google Nest Hub Max.

The Nest Hub Max is designed to be a device that’s your virtual assistant with a 10″ display. Google’s latest gadget has the ability to recognize your face, act as a security camera, display photographs and assist you in selecting content for streaming.

Owing to Google’s strong algorithms, the Nest Hub Max can detect if an intruder is present in your house. The ‘tablet-cum-home assistant’ can store multiple faces, and display data tailored according to each face (dubbed: Face Match). So, if you and your family member have registered your faces on the Nest Hub Max, then the Hub will display data specific to either of you when you’re using it.

Since the Hub Max can be paired with Google Assistant, you can use it to stream any content you want with Assistant’s help. You can also use the Hub Max to make video calls, as the gadget is designed to act as a perfect virtual assistant with a physical presence in your home. Such a statement naturally raises privacy concerns, and thankfully, Google’s thought of them as well.

If you’re worried about privacy, then you’ll be able to physically disconnect the camera and microphones through a switch on the device’s back. Additionally, the Nest Hub Max will not record or stream any video from the camera unless you explicitly instruct the gadget to do so. Finally, whenever the camera is on, a Green indicator light placed right next to it will be on too.

The Nest Hub Max also has support for gesture recognition, and according to Google, you will be able to pause it during music playback by simply raising your hand. Its camera is a wide-angle lens that ensures your face is consistently in the middle of a frame during video calling. You can also use the camera to record videos for other members of your home when you’re away, be notified if someone unwanted is present in your home and video chat using iOS or Android.

The Google Nest Hub will be available later this summer for $229. You will also be able to purchase it at Best Buy, Target, Home Depot and other retailers.
