Does busting make you feel good? Well, you might be in luck, because it seems a remaster of 2009’s Ghostbusters: The Video Game might be coming our way. For those who never played the game, it was fun enough, but it’s main claim to fame was that it featured a story partially written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and the voices of entire original cast, including Aykroyd, Ramis, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and yes, even the mercurial Bill Murray. A lot of fans essentially consider the game an unofficial Ghostbusters 3, and, as such, it’s kind of a shame it’s largely been lost to history.
Well, the game may be making a surprise comeback for its 10-year anniversary – Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered recently popped up on the Taiwanese Game Software Rating site.
The game is listed as coming from Mad Dog Games, which typically publishes Saber Interactive stuff outside of North America, so perhaps Saber is involved in the remaster in some way. Ghostbusters was originally published by Atari, but they’re not mentioned anywhere in the listing. Adding to the confusion, the Korean ratings board has also listed the PC version of Ghostbusters Remastered, which they say is coming from Epic Games Korea.
Will Ghostbusters Remastered be an Epic Games Store exclusive? It certainly wouldn’t be surprising! Regardless, while we don’t know exactly who’s making/publishing the game or what storefronts it will end up on, two separate ratings board listings makes it pretty much a lock Ghostbusters is returning. Here’s hoping they put some effort into the remaster – the original game had a fun story, but its graphics weren’t amazing and it had some gameplay issues.
What do you think? Did you play Ghostbusters back in 2009? Would you be interested in checking out a remastered version of the game?
