Ghost Recon Breakpoint Debut Gameplay Shows Off Open World, New Survival Elements

Ubisoft has been teasing something new for a while via a series of Easter eggs in Ghost Recon Wildlands, and yesterday the new game, entitled Ghost Recon Breakpoint, seemingly leaked. Well, that leak was 100 percent legit, as Ubisoft has fully unveiled Ghost Recon Breakpoint via a new trailer and meaty chunk of alpha build gameplay.

Breakpoint sends players to the mysterious island of Aurora, where drone manufacturer Skell Technology has set up shop. Skell’s drones have gone rogue and it’s up to the Ghost Recon team to find out what’s going on. Breakpoint looks to follow fairly closely in Wildlands’ footsteps, in that it’s a four-player co-op shooter set in a vast, varied open-world, but some things are changing. Breakpoint puts more of an emphasis on survival, with players having to deal with varied terrain and weather and serious, debilitating injuries. You’ll also constantly be stalked by The Wolves, a squad of particularly dangerous mercenaries out for your blood. You can check out the cinematic debut trailer for Ghost Recon Wildlands, below.

And here’s the Breakpoint gameplay demo.

Looking pretty nice! The lighting and weather effects are particularly impressive. According to Ubisoft, over 1000 developers are working on the Ghost Recon franchise now and Breakpoint’s main story campaign will include hundreds of cutscenes. In addition to four-player co-op, the game will also include a full PvP mode at launch with players using a single character between all modes.

Of course, Ghost Recon Breakpoint will launch with a variety of special editions. Here’s the full rundown along with the now-standard release chart:
