Mortal Kombat 11 Drops a Launch Trailer 90s Kids Will Love, Shows Switch Footage

Mortal Kombat 11 is less than a week away, and NetherRealm Studios has dropped a launch trailer that’s guaranteed to get 90s kids pumped. Yes, this latest MK11 trailer ditches the so-so rap tracks NetherRealm has been using, in favor of “Techno Syndrome,” aka the gloriously cheesy “Test Your Might!” theme song for the 90s Mortal Kombat movie. To this day, no music gets me more pumped up to rip out somebody’s spine. Check out the trailer, below.

Lot happening in that trailer! Here’s a quick description of what’s going on:

Kronika, the Keeper of Time, has signaled for a new era to begin as she tries to rewind time to its beginning and restart history. In order to restore balance to the realms, players must take on the role of numerous fighters from different eras, culminating in the ultimate generational clash as current characters collide with their past selves. The launch trailer features both cinematic story moments coupled with crushing gameplay showcasing Mortal Kombat 11’s growing roster of confirmed fighters!

Speaking of fighters which, 23 Mortal Kombat 11 characters have been revealed, including Kitana, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Jax, Noob Saibot, Kotal Kahn, Jacqui Briggs, Cassie Cage, Erron Black, Scorpion, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Skarlet, Baraka, Kano, Kabal, D’Vorah, Jade, Johnny Cage, new characters Geras, Cetrion, and The Kollector (Shang Tsung will be DLC). The game’s secret character has also leaked.

In other MK11 news, NetherRealm finally released a trailer for the Switch version featuring actual gameplay, and the game is looking pretty solid on Nintendo’s platform! The lighting and effects may have been dialed back a bit, but overall, not a dramatic downgrade. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see how well the game performs on the system.

Mortal Kombat 11 slices and dices on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on April 23.
