As we inch closer to the rumored launch date of the upcoming Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, the existence of which has been indirectly acknowledged by the search giant, leaks have also started to intensify. The latest one comes from the well-known tipster Evan Blass, who has uploaded an image of the Pixel 3a and the picture basically corroborates the previous rumors. Blass does have a good track record, and the image looks pretty legitimate, so let us not waste any more time and get on with it.

The Mid-Range Pixel Phones Will Apparently Be Launched on May 7

The Pixel 3a pictured in the image is a notch-free phone with a simple design and a single rear and front camera. However, as Google has proven with its flagships, single sensors can also take fabulous shots. The phones will also reportedly get Google’s Pixel Visual Core, the same image processor that comes with the Pixel 3 lineup.

The image also shows an orange power button on the right-hand side, making it easier for users to tell which button they’ll end up pressing. Apart from that, a physical fingerprint scanner can also be spotted on the back. If the home screen of the alleged Pixel 3a is any indication, the Pixel 3a and 3 XL will be revealed on May 7, which also happens to be the first day of the annual Google I/O conference. The price of the phones is expected to fall in the $400-500 price bracket.

According to earlier rumors, the Pixel 3a will sport an OLED screen with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 and the Pixel 3a XL will come with a 2220 x 1080 resolution, but bearing a slightly bigger screen. The mid-range Snapdragon 670 and 710 chipsets will reportedly power the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL respectively, and both the phones are tipped to come with 4GB of RAM. Some reports also claim that the phones will retain the headphone jack, which would be a plus for consumers who miss the 3.5mm connector.

Unfortunately, there’s not going to be any Qi wireless charging support, which isn’t a deal breaker, but it would have been nice if the less expensive members of Google’s smartphone lineup would get the same treatment. All in all, both handsets look like solid contenders on paper, but during the announcement, we’ll get to know more about them, so stay tuned.
