At Least Two 2019 iPhone Models Will Have a Triple Camera Setup – Additional Details Provided by Noted Apple Analyst

iPhone 2019 two models triple camera says analyst

Most recent Android flagships in the market come equipped with triple rear camera setups, enabling features such as enhanced optical zoom, but Apple has yet to introduce an iPhone with the same number of cameras at the back side. However, things are looking up as the technology giant is expected to up that number this year. According to the esteemed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, here are the camera details on the 2019 iPhone models expected to launch later this year.

Ming-Chi Kuo Says Selfie Camera Will Also Be Improved on the Upcoming Lineup

According to an investor note spotted by AppleInsider, Kuo says that the 6.5-inch and 5.8-inch OLED iPhones this year will come with a rear camera system while the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will have a dual camera system. The camera system will apparently consist of a 12MP telephoto sensor, a 12MP wide-angle lens, and a 12MP super-wide angle camera, with the sensors apparently being procured from Sony. The cameras will reportedly also have a black coating to make them blend well with the body.

The note also claims that all three new iPhones will feature a 12MP CIS+5P lens on the front, which will be a significant upgrade from the current 7MP CIS+4P setup. Kuo also said that TrueDepth might be upgraded with a higher-power flood illuminator to improve Face ID recognition. An earlier rumor stated that the size of the notch would be decreased this year, so let us see if that comes to pass.

According to previous reports, the 2019 iPhone series is expected to stick with a Lightning connector, instead of following the footsteps of the latest iPad Pro series and adopting the USB-C. The upcoming iPhones are also tipped to get slightly bigger batteries than their predecessors, while also adding the option of wirelessly topping up other Qi-enabled devices.

Samsung and Huawei have already introduced these features on their flagships so it makes sense for Apple to use them, but we’d be more than happy to see the latter actually provide an important real-world use-case for reverse wirelessly charging rather than just putting it on the features list as another gimmick.

With other manufacturers bringing innovation in smartphone photography, we should expect no less from Apple, and down the road, we’re bound to come across more info like this, so stay tuned.
