The perpetual increase in smartphone screen sizes has contributed to a constant decline in the global sales of tablets. Another reason for this decline is, perhaps, the thinning line between smartphones and portable-yet-powerful laptops. But in spite of this shrinkage, Apple and Samsung are two of the major brands that have not held back from introducing newer tablets. Now, after the iPad Pro’s facelift, it’s Samsung’s turn to claim bragging rights for its upcoming tablet.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e
Samsung is reportedly working on a successor line-up to the Galaxy Tab S4 tablet, the flagship tablet it launched last year. But instead of the Galaxy Tab S5, we have a preview of what its underpowered sibling could look like. Renowned leaker Evan Blass shared an image of what is likely to be the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e and the “e” here is most likely to be a result of the same philosophy as that of the purported Galaxy S10e – affordable model among the leaked Galaxy S10 bunch.
I see your leak, and raise you a leak. Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e. pic.twitter.com/Cc2I9g136V

While Blass didn’t share much information about the tablet, there are a few things we can discern from the image. The bezels on the Galaxy Tab S5e are seemingly smaller than the ones on the Galaxy Tab S4 and the icons give away the fact that it will run on Samsung’s new Android Pie-based One UI. There are single cameras on both the front and the back, and a fingerprint scanner on the side that will possibly double as the power and lock/unlock button.
The Galaxy Tab S5e has antenna lines on the back running along both the shorter edges, suggesting that the tablet will have SIM support. This is backed by the tiny cavities on the side which appear to be serving the SIM tray. Apart from these, the tablet has magnetic connectors on the other side for the folio Book Cover keyboard.
Lastly, a logo on the back of the Galaxy Tab S5e reads “Sound by AKG” instead of the usual “Tuned by AKG.” This, as per our sources, is because AKG is building those speakers for Samsung and not just tuning them. However, it remains to be seen whether the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e comes with four speakers, i.e. two on each side just like the Galaxy Tab S4, or just two.
Besides this, we have no concrete information about the internal specifications of the leaked tablet.
New Samsung Galaxy Fit and Fit e Smart Bands
There’s another leak and it comes from none other than Samsung itself, caught after a hurried update for the Galaxy Wearables companion app. The updated version of the app shows a slew of yet-to-be-unveiled wearables from Samsung, as first reported by XDA’s very own Max Weinbach and shared on Twitter by XDA’s Editor-in-Chief Mishaal Rahman. At the top is the Galaxy Watch Active and it looks strikingly similar to the fitness-centric smartwatch which was recently leaked and referred to as Galaxy Sport.

Then, there’s a couple of new fitness bands. These are the Galaxy Fit – not the fitness band from 2014 with a similar name – and the new “Fit e”. This is the first glimpse of the Fit e since its Bluetooth certification last month. Apart from these, the update also confirms leaks about the Galaxy Buds, which Samsung intends pit against Apple’s AirPods.
So far, we don’t have much information but the images are a feast for the eyes.
Launching at MWC 2019
While the Galaxy Buds are expected to be launched alongside the Galaxy S10 series at Samsung’s Unpacked Event next week, the Galaxy Tab S5e as well the new Galaxy Fit and Fit e are likely to be showcased later at MWC 2019. Samsung really seems to be digging the “e” terminology and its intentions will be clearer with the launch of the Galaxy S10e, the first device part of this ideology.
