Over the years, we’ve watched Xiaomi grow from a small, hungry smartphone OEM to the behemoth they are today. They are one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world right now due to their commitment to things like hardware quality, affordable pricing, software updates, and more. Expanding into markets such as India has really helped Xiaomi boost their reputation, so the company has decided to give the Xiaomi Mi A2 a permanent price reduction of up to INR 3000 in India.
China is a very competitive market on its own so Xiaomi began looking at other emerging markets to continue its growth. One of those countries has been India, and they have been very successful with their strategy there. According to IDC’s quarterly reports, the company has held the #1 position in that country for 5 consecutive quarters in a row (from Q3 2017 to Q3 2018). 2019 marks the Xiaomi’s 5th year in the company and to celebrate they have decided to reveal some surprise for each day of the week.
This reveal is for the permanent price cut in India for the Mi A2 of up to INR 3000 in India. As there are multiple variants, this means there are two new prices to know. At launch, the Mi A2 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage variant was priced at INR 16,999. This price was reduced to INR 15,999 in November and the new price reduction puts it right at INR 13,999. Then we have the 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage model, which launched at INR 19,999, but was discounted to INR 18,999 in November and is now being priced at INR 15,999.
So as you can see, the higher-end model is now being priced below the lower-end model was when these two smartphones launched in India. We have been very fond of the Mi A2 since it was launched and felt it was a camera-focused contender in a competitive segment.
