Yesterday, Google released the January Android Security Updates for the Pixel 3, Pixel 2, and Google Pixel. We usually see OEMs release the security updates for their own devices shortly thereafter (though some are better than others). With every passing month, older devices get left by the wayside. It appears LG is ditching the LG V20 and LG G5.

XDA Forum Moderator Redline discovered that the LG V20 is no longer listed on LG’s Security Bulletin webpage. We also noticed the LG G5 has been removed. This means the devices will no longer receive updates, security patches or otherwise. Both devices will not be updated past Android Oreo.
It took LG a long time to bring Android Oreo to the LG V20 and LG G5, so it’s really no surprise that they won’t be getting Android Pie. However, LG did promise 2 years of updates, which means they should technically have gotten Android Pie. We reached out to LG to get a statement on the situation and we will update this post with any new information.
