iPhone 16 Ultra Will Not Feature Any Additional Rear Cameras, Claims Updated Rumor, Will Stick With A Dynamic Island Like Current Models

iPhone 16 Ultra

Apple was rumored to introduce three new rear cameras to the iPhone 16 Ultra, claiming that next year’s flagship would get this hardware upgrade as a means to somehow communicate with the Apple Vision Pro wirelessly. However, the tipster who talked about this rumor on the weekend has an update in which he states that the number of cameras will remain the same as this year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max, along with other similarities.

Early rumor also states that Apple is sticking with the aluminum alloy chassis for the iPhone 16 Ultra despite durability issues

The iPhone 16 Ultra is now said to get the same triple-rear camera setup as this year’s model, along with the LiDAR unit. Majin Bu backtracked on his original rumor, saying that there was an interpretation error on his part. Apparently, his unnamed source talked about the LiDAR camera and LED flash as if they were a part of the additional sensors.

However, since they are separate components, we expect to see the wide angle, ultrawide angle, and tetraprism telephoto units as the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but with some possible hardware changes. There are other similarities that the iPhone 16 Ultra is rumored to share with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. For the time being, Apple is said to retain the Dynamic Island on next year’s top-end model, along with titanium.

It appears that the Dynamic Island will not change for at least a few more years before the company decides to finally introduce a full-screen design. We have reported on multiple occasions that titanium does not hold up well against drops compared to stainless steel, but there is a possibility that Apple improves the thermal bonding process with aluminum.

When asked about the durability of the titanium chassis intended to be used for the iPhone 16 Ultra, Majin Bu responds to a user on his post that he imagines the durability will improve, but since this rumor is early, he is unable to provide a clearer answer. Apple’s entire iPhone 15 lineup officially went on sale last week, so rumors surrounding the iPhone 16 Ultra should immediately be treated with a grain of salt as it is too early to draw conclusions. We can expect a bevy of changes to be implemented next year, so stay tuned for more updates.
