Xiaomi’s Redmi K60 Ultra Is The Ultimate Price-To-Performance Flagship; Offers A Dimensity 9200+, 24GB LPDDR5X RAM, More, All For Under $500

Xiaomi officially announces the Redmi K60 Ultra

Xiaomi’s Redmi range has always provided top-tier specifications for an incredible price and that trend continues with the Redmi K60 Ultra, a handset sporting an impressive 6.67-inch display with a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220. There are several configurations of the latest entrant available, and we were genuinely surprised that the top-end variant, which features 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM, costs less than $500.

Redmi K60 Ultra does not compromise on the battery either, sporting a large 5,000mAh cell with up to a whopping 120W of fast charging, but it lacks certain features

The AMOLED panel of the K60 Ultra has a typical brightness level of 1,200 nits, with a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, beating the likes of the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. All the heavy lifting is done by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9200+, which is a slightly faster version of the Dimensity 9200. One major reason Xiaomi was able to keep the price of the K60 Ultra down was the company’s decision to skip using a Qualcomm SoC on this occasion.

Complementing the Dimensity 9200+ are several memory variants, with the base version starting with 12GB of high-bandwidth LPDDR5X RAM, along with 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The remaining versions can either be kitted out with 16GB or 24GB RAM, with up to 1TB of internal memory. The K60 Ultra is one of the first Android smartphones to get topped up with 24GB RAM, and pretty soon, it will be joined by OnePlus’ Ace 2 Pro.

Given the hardware touted by this flagship and its competitive price, which you will read about at the end, this handset is definitely targeted at smartphone enthusiasts that want to stretch the device’s legs with intensive gaming titles. That is where the Pixelworks X7 MEMC chips are present, helping to render a few extra frames to get that buttery-smooth experience. On paper, the camera specifications are decent, too, with the main 50MP Sony IMX800 sensor supporting optical image stabilization (OIS). The rest of the hardware includes an 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP unit.

At the front, you get a 20MP selfie camera. The Redmi K60 Ultra is also packing a generous 5,000mAh battery with 120-watt fast charging. Unfortunately, to keep the costs down, it does not support wireless charging or reverse wireless charging, but the lack of these features does not mean that this smartphone is a deal-breaker. Coming to the price, this is what impressed us the most. The base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage costs RMB 2,599, or $258 USD, with the fully-decked out version with 24GB RAM and 1TB storage carrying a price of RMB 3,599, or $496 USD.

All versions can be pre-ordered right now, with sales being limited to China at this time. The Redmi K60 Ultra is said to release on August 22 officially, and anyone that wants to obtain a handset that goes into overkill territory over the best-in-class hardware, your prayers have been answered.
