Baldur's Gate 3 players have spent a very long time with the character creation tool. Developer Larian Studios revealed last Friday that users had spent a total of 88 years, or 770K hours, creating their beloved custom character. Additionally, 10% of the users spent at least an hour in the character creation tool.
That doesn't necessarily mean they're happy with the result, though. Several Baldur's Gate 3 players requested a way to change their character's appearance after they've entered the game world, and Larian's Director of Publishing Michael Douse confirmed yesterday that the developers have received the feedback and are working on the feature. There's no estimated time arrival for it yet, but we'll keep you posted as soon as it goes live as we've done with the hotfixes so far.
The first proper Baldur's Gate 3 patch has yet to go live, but Larian confirmed in the latest community update that it's coming and it'll feature a 'gigantic list of tweaks and changes'.
We have a roadmap for hotfixes and patches, thanks to your thorough reporting and the stellar work of the support and development teams behind the scenes. We don’t publish our roadmaps because we need the freedom to push and pull things around when the unforeseen happens without locking ourselves in, but we want to let you know that it’s there and that we’re currently working towards Patch 1, which will feature a gigantic list of tweaks and changes. We’ll publish these once it’s finalised.
The latest hotfix also increased the maximum size of save games to accommodate all the various choices attempted by players. However, as pointed out by PC Gamer, this could mean your Baldur's Gate 3 save directory (located in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story if you're playing on Windows or $HOME/Documents/Larian Studios/Baldur's Gate 3/PlayerProfiles/Public/Savegames/Story if you're playing on MacOS) now contains several gigabytes of data.
Mine is nearly at 4GB, though admittedly, I save nearly every fifteen minutes and I'm now in Act 3, having played over 70 hours to date. Just keep on it and maybe delete some old ones if needed. After all, you're probably not returning to some point in Act 1 anymore.
