Fallout London, the upcoming unofficial fan expansion for Fallout 4, has been delayed to late 2023 because of the release of Starfield this September.
The ambitious, and highly-anticipated DLC-sized mod for Bethesda's latest Fallout entry was first slated for a release in the third quarter of this year (somewhere between now and September), but with a 'certain' major space game releasing this September as well, the team has made the decision to release the fan expansion during the holiday season. The delay was announced in a new developer progress video some days ago. Aside from announcing this short delay, the new video also packs some new work-in-progress gameplay footage, which fans will appreciate. Be sure to check out the new developer progress video below.
"I wanted to give you a little update about our release date", the mod's project lead says in the video. "Start by saying that we're not providing you with a specific day, but I can openly say that it will be in the fourth quarter of the year. Now, you might be wondering why so late. Well, initially, we had hoped for it to be in the third quarter as in the one that's coming up. However, a certain space game got delayed and is now scheduled to come out around the same time that we have planned. So, as a result, we're making our release for the last quarter. This only gives you all more time to play Starfield, but also allows us more time for play testing and bug fixing. So it's a win-win situation."
For those in the unknown - Fallout London is a continuation of Fallout 4 which allows players to visit the previously unexplored post-apocalyptic environment of London. "As a divergence from previous official titles in the series, Fallout: London is not set in America", the description of the expansion reads. "Visiting a totally new setting allows us to explore totally new cultures which have not homogenized with their American counterparts. It also allows us to explore pre-war European history and the effects the Resource Wars had on the class-structured society of pre-war Britain."
This mod will only become available on PC. We'll update you as soon as more information about this exciting fan expansion comes in. For now, stay tuned.
