Apple will launch its iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models with a USB-C port alongside new accessories in September of this year. It is now being reported that the company will launch a new USB-C case for the AirPods Pro. Apple will eventually move away from the Lightning cable and streamline the accessories with the port as well. Furthermore, the Cupertino giant is also working on a new hearing test feature that will work with iOS 17's features that Apple announced at its WWDC 2023 event.
Similar to the iPhone 15 lineup, Apple will launch the new AirPods Pro with a USB-C charging case
Mark Gurman states in his latest Power On newsletter that Apple is working on a new model of the AirPods Pro which will come with a USB-C charging case. The current charging case houses a Lightning port that works well with the current standard. However, due to pressure from the EU, Apple will ditch the Lightning port in favor of a USB-C port.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models are rumored to house the new USB-C port as well which will offer a wide range of benefits over the Lightning port. For instance, USB-C will enable faster data transfer and charging speeds. The company's end goal could be to make the iPhone entirely portless but USB-C seems to be the right choice for now.
As mentioned earlier, USB-C AirPods Pro would be introduced at Apple's September event alongside the iPhone 15 lineup. Other than this, the company is also working on a new hearing test feature for the AirPods. The feature will allow the AirPods to play a specific sound into a user's ear to detect hearing issues. The new addition will be part of Apple's health-focused approach with the AirPods. The company will be expanding health features in the future where it will see fit to add a body temperature sensor and much more.
At Apple's WWDC 2023 event, it was announced that the AirPods Pro would receive a new Adaptive Audio feature sometime this year where the earbuds would dynamically adjust the Noise Cancelling Mode and the Transparency, depending on the situation. Apple's new hardware conjoined with iOS 17 will offer a plethora of health-related as well as Accessibility features.
As for the iPhone, the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are rumored to house major changes compared to the current models. However, the standard iPhone 15 models will also come with their share of improvements like the Dynamic Island and upgraded camera hardware.
