Google Has Delayed its Find My Device Network So Apple Can Implement the Same Functionality on its Devices

Back in May earlier this year, Google announced Find My Device Network, the purpose of this network was to use over 1 billion Android devices and help users find their lost items. The Find My Device network was going to launch this summer, but it turns out that Google has delayed it and for the right reasons.

You see, Google t walked about how trackers from all the renowned companies like Pebblebee, Tile, and Chipolo would be compatible with the Find My Device network out of the box, with a couple of brands even opening up preorders. But now, Google has officially announced that the Find My Device Network is going to take some time before it fully starts rolling out.

As I have mentioned before, this delay is not something that you should be worried about because it is good. You see, the Find My Network being delayed is happening because of the unknown tracker alert that informs the user if someone is monitoring you without your knowledge. Google has already released this feature, and it's rolling out starting today on all devices running Android 6.0+. The feature is still not available on iPhones. If you are wondering why it has anything to do with iPhone, then you should know that Google and Apple partnered up to introduce an industry-wide standard that other companies will be a part of.

Now, the search engine giant has decided to delay the release of this feature because Apple has not implemented the necessary features for iOS. We are hoping Apple starts working on releasing the support. Thankfully, the AirTag tracker alert feature from Google is still rolling out starting today, and Google has also mentioned that it s expecting the spec to be finalized by the end of this year, which means that we could see a wider rollout for both Apple and Android devices sometime next year.
