During the Exoprimal Showcase live stream, Game Director Takuro Hiraoka unveiled several details about the game's post-launch roadmap.
To begin with, though, Hiraoka-san introduced the Final Mission Selection feature. Players will be able to matchmaker in three different queues: PvP (Player versus Player), PvE (Player versus Environment), and random. In PvP matches, two rival teams of Exofighters will fight directly in the latter portion of a match. PvE matches, on the other hand, are all about speed. These missions generally do not involve direct PvP. Instead, the team to complete all objectives first will be victorious. The random matchmaking option can land you in either of the two queues, but with a small experience bonus to reward your adventurous spirit.
The Exoprimal Game Director then moved on to discuss the post-launch roadmap. The first season begins on launch day and adds the new mode Savage Gauntlet from July 28th. Hiraoka-san recommended that players upgrade and learn how to use their Exosuits before even attempting this mode since it is a cooperative experience that challenges teams of five players with late-game PvE missions that rotate weekly and can be replayed for higher rankings and rewards.
The first Title Update is set to debut on August 16th, adding ten Alpha variant Exosuits. These alternate options offer entirely different weapons than the standard Exosuits, as detailed below.
- Deadeye Alpha: Burst Fire
- Zephyr Alpha: Dragon Energy Chakram
- Barrage Alpha: Rocket Launcher
- Vigilant Alpha: Semi-Automatic Marksman Rifle
- Roadblock Alpha: Deployable Fortress Shield
- Krieger Alpha: Chargeable Shotgun
- Murasame Alpha: Frost Glaive (its counter freezes enemeis)
- Witchdoctor Alpha: Duality Beam (heals allies and harms foes at the same time)
- Skywave Alpha: Lightning Thunderclap
- Nimbus Alpha: Double-Barrel Shotguns
Season 2 will start in mid-October and bring the Street Fighter 6 ft. Exoprimal collaboration was first teased last month. CAPCOM will also add new rigs, modules, a new final mission, and a new Ocean Platform map.
Season 3 is planned for January 2024, with Title Update 3 bringing Beta variant Exosuits and a new dinosaur foe, the fearsome Neo Triceratops. That's also when CAPCOM plans to add another collaboration with one of its franchises, Monster Hunter.
As a reminder, Exoprimal will launch on Friday, July 14th for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X. It'll be included on day one with the Game Pass subscription service.
Cross-play functionality is quite limited at launch, though CAPCOM promised to look into expanding it.
