Apple announced the Vision Pro headset at its WWDC 2023 event; the device is the talk of the industry these days. The Vision Pro's real-world performance and usage would remain under speculation since it is expected to hit the shelves early next year in small numbers. Until the headset is released to the public, developers will continue to test the hardware and software for a smooth launch. It is now being reported that Apple is planning to launch the developer kits of the Vision Pro, allowing them to develop apps and additional material.

Apple to launch Vision Pro early next year as it plans to launch developer kits soon for hardware and software testing

Apple has released the backend assets for Vision Pro which will allow developers to identify and test the code for visionOS. The code also corresponds to the battery pack which surprisingly features three model numbers - A2781, A2988, and A697. The information shared by the code is a little confusing since the company only announced a single battery p[ack with 2 hours of run time. What this means is that the company could be working on additional battery packs with more than two hours of life (via MacRumors).

Apple initially coined that it will release the Vision Pro developer kits in July. Hence, the company could release the developer kits soon as the month is moving toward its end. With the developer kits in hand, engineers will be able to further play with the hardware and test out new apps and experiences.

Additionally, the developers will also work to make various use cases of the headset, allowing it to be more relevant for the end user. The company did announce a plethora of features related to communication, media, and entertainment, but that is not all. It remains to be seen what additional features are part of the mix.

According to Apple developers will be able to evaluate the Vision Pro's compatibility for existing apps, as well as new ones. Developers can also visit the company's dedicated labs to demo iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS apps. Apple has already seeded the first developer beta of visionOS. The Vision Pro headset will also act as a gaming device with game developers working to bring their titles to the new platform.
