AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D Unveiled For $229 US: 6 Zen 3 Cores With 3D V-Cache Designed For Budget Gamers On AM4 Platforms

The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D was leaked out earlier in June and it looks like the leaks were very accurate. The CPU has now been officially introduced as a Microcenter exclusive product and features the most affordable 3D V-Cache design which will definitely be a great upgrade for all previous AM4 owners who are running an older Ryzen 2000 or Ryzen 3000 CPU.

"At Micro Center, we are thrilled to partner with AMD and introduce the limited-edition AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D processor to our valued customers," said Warren Beneson, Chief Merchandising Officer at Micro Center. "We are committed to delivering exceptional value to gamers, and the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D processor embodies that commitment. It offers an unparalleled gaming experience at an unbeatable price point. With this exclusive offering, gamers can push the boundaries of performance and elevate their gaming endeavors to new heights. We are thrilled to bring this extraordinary opportunity to our valued customers."

Starting with the specifications, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D has the OPN "100-000001176" and will be featuring the 7nm Zen 3 core architecture. The CPU is going to feature 6 cores and 12 threads. The chip will feature 3 MB of L2 cache and a massive 96 MB L3 cache. There will be 32 MB of L3 & 64 MB of SRAM stack on the singular CCD which will be purely optimized for gaming workloads.

The 5600X3D will also be the first 6-core 3D V-Cache CPU when it launches and that opens up the room for a possible Ryzen 5 7600X3D CPU for the AM5 platform in the future. As for the clock speeds, the chip will be rated at a base clock of 3.3 GHz and a boost clock of 4.4 GHz. These are slightly slower than the standard Ryzen 5 5600X which features a 3.7 GHz base & 4.6 GHz boost clock. Just like the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, the Ryzen 5 5600X3D will come with a default TDP of 105W and would carry no overclocking support due to its fragile cache which isn't too fond of higher voltages.

The CPU makes perfect sense for AM4 owners as the cost of upgrading to the AM5 platform is still a bit high and despite the price cuts and discounts across various Ryzen 7000 CPUs, DDR5 & board prices are still comparatively higher priced. With the 5600X3D, users can simply replace and drop in the new chip on to their motherboard and get way faster gaming performance.

Now the Microcenter exclusivity is very interesting which more or less means that the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D will only be available in the US. Besides the chip itself, Microcenter is also offering bundle deals which include the CPU itself along with an ASUS B550-PLUS TUF Gaming motherboard and the G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB DDR4 memory for $329.99 US. That's a pretty solid deal for $100.00 US more.
