Gigabyte has just introduced two brand new AORUS Z790 motherboards, the Xtreme X & the Master X which feature an updated design.

AORUS Adds 10 GbE & WiFi-7 Connectivity Along With Upgraded Heatsinks on New Z790 Xtreme X & Master X Motherboards

Gigabyte's new motherboards are more than just upgraded connectivity options like ASRock and MSI's options. With these new motherboards, Gigabyte is slightly updating the cooling & heatsink solutions while making sure they can support the upcoming Intel Raptor Lake CPU refresh which is planned for later this year.

The first motherboard in the lineup is the flagship Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Xtreme X which can be seen to feature a brand new LCD display that will display a few monitoring stats and you can also run GIFs and videos on it. The LCD cannot be removed like the one on the GODLIKE by MSI but we have been told that the heatsink underneath it has been updated to allow for increased cooling when running Intel's high-end 13th Gen CPUs.

Another interesting update is the easy latching mechanism which now comes with magnetic locks and allows easy removal of the entire M.2 heatsink block and the M.2 Gen5 heatsink too. The M.2 Gen5 heatsink has also been enhanced and now measures a good bit when we compare it to the previous version. The latching mechanism is super easy to use and doesn't requires any screw which saves a lot of hassle. The rest of the specifications are the same as the Z790 AORUS Xtreme.

Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Master X Motherboard

The Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Master X has also received similar treatments as the Z790 Xtreme X such as the addition of Wi-Fi 7 and 10 GbE LAN. Both motherboards also come with a new and improved Wi-Fi receiver that has a wider range and also comes with a magnetic surface. The M.2 heatsinks once again feature the latch mechanism and come with magnetic locks. We have been told that this heatsink is also a slightly updated version that should handle existing and upcoming Intel CPUs really well.

As for pricing and availability, both models are expected to cost higher than their Non-X Z790 variants, and the launch is said to happen in the second half of 2023.
