The Lord of the Rings: Gollum may well end up being a fun time, but much like its title antihero, the game isn’t much of a looker. Even the game’s new RTX trailer, designed to show the game at its very best, isn’t exactly mind-blowing, serving up low-detail character models and dated-looking environments. Well, if you were hoping Gollum’s so-so presentation would mean you’d at least be able to run the game without a sweat, well, I’ve got some bad news.
We previously got some partial The Lord of the Rings: Gollum PC requirements, but now a more in-depth specs have been released. These come courtesy of NVIDIA, so they only list GeForce cards, but frankly, AMD is probably happy not to be involved in this dog’s breakfast. An RTX 2060 for Minimum? An RTX 4070 for 1440p with ray tracing? Ultimately, probably the most eye-catching thing is that they’re recommending you use DLSS for any setting above 1080p. It definitely feels like the tech is being used as a crutch to cover for poor optimization in this particular case. Then again, in some respects, like RAM usage, the specs are actually rather low, so who the heck knows what's going on here.
