iPhone 15 Pro Max Periscope Lens Zoom

Apple will announce the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models in September with major changes, The standard models are expected to feature Dynamic Island on the front and "frosted glass" on the back as part of its redesign. This year, the company is looking to drastically add various improvements to the iPhone 15's design to increase sales compared to the iPhone 14 lineup. However, major changes are expected for the iPhone 15 Pro models as well. This year, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will receive major camera improvements with a 5 to 6x optical zoom using a periscope lens. Scroll down to read more details on the matter.

iPhone 16 Pro Max to follow iPhone 15 Pro Max for exclusive periscope lens with enhanced optical zoom

It was previously reported that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a periscope lens for enhanced optical zoom. This is not the first time that we are hearing details on a periscope lens for the iPhone. Coined by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last year, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a periscope lens capable of 5 to 6x optical zoom. The technology will allow the iPhone to retain image quality even after applying zoom to a certain level.

While the inclusion of digital zoom is a welcome addition in some scenarios, it is always better to have optical zoom as it provides more clarity. Apple's implementation of the periscope technology would integrate with the telephoto lens in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Another important aspect to note here is that the lens will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The standard model would continue to offer 3x optical zoom.

iPhone 15 Pro Max Periscope Lens Zoom

Currently, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are restricted to 3x optical zoom. Apple will also keep the periscope lens exclusive for the iPhone 16 Pro Max in 2024. What this means is that the smaller 'Pro' models would have to wait for the technology in the coming years. Currently, there are various flagship Android phones that make use of the periscope lens, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Google's Pixel 7 Pro with 5x to 10x optical zoom.

The iPhone 15 Pro models would also feature further improvements in the camera department. We have previously heard that the device will feature a bigger camera bump compared to the current iPhone 14 Pro Max. Take note that the final word rests with Apple and it could see fit to alter its plans. Henceforth, be sure to take the news with a grain of salt. Share your views with us in the comments.
