Genshin Impact Roadmap for Updates 3.7 to 4.0 Leaks, New Character Kirara Detailed

Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact ver. 3.6 launches next week, bringing two new characters and more goodies for fans, but the game’s very active leaks community is already filling in the details on what we can expect from the next few updates, including the big version 4.0.

As we’ve known for a while, version 4.0 will usher in the Fontaine region, which is associated with the  Hydro element and is said to be a hub of culture and broadly inspired by 19th/early 20th century France and continental Europe. A large number of early Fontaine character designs were also leaked, but we had very little information about them, and, in general, the future beyond update 3.6 has remained a bit murky (HoYoverse has been trying to clamp down on the leaks with mixed success).

Well, reliable Genshin Impact leaker SYP has provided a roadmap for the next few updates. Apparently, update 3.7 will introduce the 4-star Dendro user Kirara (originally referred to as Momoka in the game’s code) and update 3.8 won’t offer any new characters at all. Genshin will then skip ahead to the big 4.0 update, which will include two new characters.

What do we know about the new 3.7 character Kirara? Well, according to Genshin leakers Team China, she’s a cat-themed 4-star character who will wield a catalyst and plant-powered Dendro magic. She’ll have various cat-themed attacks and an Elemental Skill that will “grant climbing freedom,” implying she may be able to boost your stamina or climbing ability. Here’s what Kirara is said to look like, although her appearance may have changed (this is early concept art).

Now, who are those two characters that will launch alongside Genshin Impact 4.0? We don’t know for sure, but some details about the Fontaine updates and characters are coming into focus. According to leaker Uncle A, Fontaine will eventually get seven female 5-star and two male 5-star characters. These likely include the long-teased twins Lynette (Anemo sword user) and Lyney (Pyro bow user) and the Hydro Archon, Focalors. According to Uncle A, the Fontaine updates will also see the playable introduction of another one of the villainous Eleven Fatui Harbingers, Arlecchino. Also known as The Knave, Arlecchino was previously featured in a Genshin Impact teaser trailer.

Of course, take all this with a grain of salt for now. The Genshin leakers pretty much always deliver the goods, but plans can change.

Genshin Impact can be played on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile platforms. Update 3.6 launches on April 12. Genshin Impact updates typically happen ever six weeks, meaning you can expect ver. 3.7 in May, 3.8 in early July, and 4.0 in August.
