Intel Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs Get Preliminary Support In HWiNFO 1

The latest version of HWiNFO has added preliminary support for Intel's next-generation Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs.

HWiNFO Brings Intel Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPU Support To The Table Amongst Other Additions & Updates

HWiNFO recently updated to version 7.40 and the company has given a list of changes that we can expect in the upcoming version (v7.41). In the list of upcoming changes, the company plans to give preliminary support to Arrow Lake-S, a future Intel desktop CPU lineup that is planned for launch in 2024.

The newest "upcoming changes" for HWiNFO are listed below. We have highlighted the section discussing Arrow Lake-S:

  • Added reporting of PMIC Validation and DIMM Certification status for XMP 3.0 rev1.3+.
  • Added NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop.
  • Fixed monitoring of some EC sensors on the EVGA Z790 series.
  • Enhanced support of AMD Phoenix.
  • Enhanced sensor monitoring on some MSI H510M, H610M, and A620M series.
  • Improved reporting of Intel HDA sound drivers.
  • Added limited monitoring of Intel Arc GPUs without drivers installed (oneAPI, IGCL).
  • Added monitoring of Corsair H100i Elite White and H150i Elite White.
  • Added NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop.
  • Added option for creating report files in UTF-8 format.
  • Added monitoring of Corsair Commander CORE, CORE XT, ST.
  • Added preliminary support of Arrow Lake-S.
  • Updated monitoring with AMD Adrenalin 23.3.2.

While this list does not give us any initial information about the new desktop CPUs, it could be speculated that the application can single out the product ID's architecture & any CPUID info that might be associated with the Intel Arrow Lake-S Desktop chips.

Last week, we reported that the Intel Meteor Lake-S desktop CPUs for the 800-series have been canceled, & in its place, Arrow Lake-S desktop processors would be supported for the Z890, B860, W880, and Q870 chipset motherboards.

The 15th Gen Intel Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs will bring back the 24 cores that we get on Raptor Lake CPUs today. The Arrow Lake-S top die will utilize up to 24 cores which will be a combination of 8 Performance Cores and 16 Efficiency Cores. Following is the full list of SKUs to expect from the lineup:

  • Arrow Lake-S 24 (8P + 16E) / 4 Xe Cores / 125W TDP
  • Arrow Lake-S 24 (8P + 16E) / 4 Xe Cores / 65W TDP
  • Arrow Lake-S 24 (8P + 16E) / 4 Xe Cores / 35W TDP

The difference with the Arrow Lake-S lineup is that all of the configurations feature the top 24 core die and the only difference is the TDP itself. It is likely that lower core count SKUs will be derived from these dies. Intel also seems to have retained the 4 Xe Cores from the Meteor Lake lineup but we expect these to feature a brand new Arc graphics architecture. The 14th Gen Meteor Lake chips are based on a TSMC 5nm GPU architecture while the 15th Gen Arrow Lake CPUs will utilize a TSMC 3nm graphics architecture, as we reported here.

During its recent investors call, Intel said that they are progressing really well on their Intel 20 node which would be utilized by the Arrow Lake CPUs. Intel also downplayed the rumors of a potential delay with the TSMC 3nm process node which will be utilized for the Arrow Lake integrated GPU.
