PlayStation State of Play with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Deep Dive Announced

Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League PlayStation State of Play

The last few weeks have been surprisingly busy in terms of video game news, with both Xbox and Nintendo delivering big showcases. Rumors have been circulating that Sony was going to join them, and today the company confirmed it – a new PlayStation State of Play will stream this week. Sony is promising a peek at new third-party titles and PlayStation VR2 games, but it seems the headliner will be Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Suicide Squad is currently slated for a May release, and yet, we haven’t really seen any footage of the game in action (some heavily-touched-up pseudo gameplay from back in 2021 is all we’ve got).

“State of Play returns with its first show of 2023! Get ready for new looks at some anticipated games from our third-party partners, as well as a first glimpse at five PlayStation VR2 games set to arrive later this year. Then, settle in for more than 15 minutes of all-new gameplay details and updates on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the next game from Rocksteady Studios.”

The announcement of this State of Play lends credibility to recent rumors about Sony’s plans. Prolific leaker Jeff Grubb let slip that Sony was planning a “low-key” third-party-focused State of Play for late February, which has turned out to be true. He also claimed Sony has plans for a bigger showcase around E3 season…

“Apparently, they're saving [...] stuff for an actual PlayStation Showcase that will likely come before E3 time. So, there you go. [...] It seems like Sony is going to be reloading and re-launching their marketing campaigns very quickly. It will be like a one-two punch.”

The new PlayStation State of Play streams this Thursday (February 23) at 1pm PT. Are you interested to see what Sony has to offer? Personally, I’m very intrigued about what Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League might look like in action – there’s some reason to be skeptical about the game, but I’ll always give the makers of the Arkham trilogy a chance to wow me.
