Apple released the first beta of iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 yesterday. If you're a registered developer, you can take the beta for a spin on your compatible iPhone and iPad right away. Public beta testers can follow suit in a few days. But, you're here because you updated to the beta and want to go back to the public release of iOS and iPadOS, which is iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5.

Downgrading is simple, but you will lose your data and settings when you're done. So, before you go ahead, therefore take a backup of everything using iCloud, iTunes or Finder. Once you're done with that, follow the steps outlined below.

Tutorial

Step 1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your PC or Mac using a Lightning or USB-C cable.

Step 2. Now launch Finder or iTunes and let the app detect your iPhone or iPad.

Step 3. Once your iPhone or iPad is detected, it will show up as a tiny iPhone or iPad-like icon on the left. Click on it.

Step 4. Now click on the Restore iPhone / iPad button and Finder / iTunes will ask you if you want to restore the software on the device, go ahead with the whole thing.

Step 5. The IPSW firmware file will now be downloaded to your computer and then restored onto your device. The whole thing make take up to fifteen minutes. Once you are done, you can setup your iPhone and iPad as a new device or just restore the backup you took before this tutorial.
