If you have a shared network and you wish to set it up in a way that will allow you to access files and folders as if they were on your local system, then you need to create a network drive. It isn’t as hard as it sounds, and the process is very simple. This tutorial will address this and show you how to map a network drive on Windows 11 systems.

Before you set up a network drive, you will have to turn on network discovery on your system. To do that, follow the steps below:

Step-1: Click on the search icon on the taskbar and type Control Panel. Click Open.

Step-2: Select View network status and tasks under Network and Internet.

Step-3: In the left pane, select Change advanced sharing settings.

Step-4: Select Turn on network discovery.

Step-5: Select Save Changes.

Once this is done, follow the steps below to create a mapped network drive:

  1.  Click on the File Explorer icon on the taskbar or open it using shortcut keys Win + E

  2.  From the right pane, select This PC.

  3.  Click on the three vertical dots as shown below:

  4.  Select Map network drive

  5.  A new window will open up. In the Drive box, you can select any alphabet you want (it shouldn’t be already taken by some other drive on your computer)
  6.  In the Folder box, use Browse to select where you want to keep the drive.
  7.  Checking the Reconnect at sign-in option will allow you to connect whenever you log in.
