If you have a shared network and you wish to set it up in a way that will allow you to access files and folders as if they were on your local system, then you need to create a network drive. It isn’t as hard as it sounds, and the process is very simple. This tutorial will address this and show you how to map a network drive on Windows 11 systems.
Map Network Drive Windows 11
Before you set up a network drive, you will have to turn on network discovery on your system. To do that, follow the steps below:
Step-1: Click on the search icon on the taskbar and type Control Panel. Click Open.
Step-2: Select View network status and tasks under Network and Internet.
Step-3: In the left pane, select Change advanced sharing settings.
Step-4: Select Turn on network discovery.
Step-5: Select Save Changes.
Once this is done, follow the steps below to create a mapped network drive:
- Click on the File Explorer icon on the taskbar or open it using shortcut keys Win + E
- From the right pane, select This PC.
- Click on the three vertical dots as shown below:
- Select Map network drive
- A new window will open up. In the Drive box, you can select any alphabet you want (it shouldn’t be already taken by some other drive on your computer)
- In the Folder box, use Browse to select where you want to keep the drive.
- Checking the Reconnect at sign-in option will allow you to connect whenever you log in.
