Netflix is an app that has been around for a while, and it has completely changed the way we entertain ourselves. You can use this app on your smartphone, tablet, computers, and even TVs. The user experience is pretty decent overall in the apps, but there may be a few things that you are unintentionally ignoring. In this tutorial, I will give you a few Netflix tips to improve your entertainment experience.
Netflix Tips to Enhance User Experience
You may already be aware of a few of these tips, and some may actually be new to you. So, read along.
Netflix Tip 1: Switch Off Autoplay
Sometimes, when you are simply browsing to watch something, the trailers start to play, and that too with sound. It is very annoying, and there is a way to turn this Autoplay off.
Step-1: Open your Netflix app on your Windows 10 computer.
Step-2: Open the profile for which you want to change the settings for.
Step-3: Click on the three dots on the top right corner of the app.
Step-4: Select Settings.
Step-5: Click on Account Details.
Step-6: You will be directed to your browser, and the Netflix settings will open here. Click on the profile you want to manage changes for.
Step-8: When the settings expand, scroll down a little and click on Change next to the Playback Settings.
Step-9: Uncheck Autoplay previews while browsing on all devices. Click Save.
Tip 2: Switch Off Post-Play
You can also switch off the ‘Play next episode’ feature. This feature we all love, but sometimes when you try to resist the temptation of binge-watching an entire season in one go, turning off this setting helps.
-
- Open your Netflix app on your Windows 10 computer.
- Open the profile for which you want to change the settings for.
- Click on the three dots on the top right corner of the app.
- Select Settings.
- Click on Account Details.
- You will be directed to your browser, and the Netflix settings will open here. Click on the profile you want to manage changes for.
- When the settings expand, click on Change next to the Playback Settings.
- Uncheck the Autoplay next episode in a series on all devices box. Click Save.
Tip 3: Get Better Algorithm Recommendations
This is something that I wasn’t aware of for a very long time. If you don’t rate what you watched, Netflix automatically assumes that you liked it, and it will recommend similar movies or shows. So, if you want to get better recommendations in your algorithm, make sure you rate it.
Step-1: Open your Netflix App.
Step-2: Click on the show/movie you just watched.
Step-3: Click on the thumbs-up rate button.
Step-4: Now, select thumbs up or thumbs down, depending on your experience.
Netflix Tip 4: Use VPN
Netflix provides different shows and movies in different regions. So, if you don’t like the shows from your region or want different options, get a VPN. Change the server and log in to your Netflix account again. This is a great option. For example, if you are a fan of anime, then logging in from Japan will give you many anime options. If you want to watch British TV shows, then you should log in from the UK.
Tip 5: Change Subtitle Styles
You can always stick to the default subtitle styles, but you can style the subtitles if you want to add a little more customization to your profile.
-
- Open your Netflix app on your Windows 10 computer.
- Open the profile for which you want to change the settings for.
- Click on the three dots on the top right corner of the app.
- Select Settings.
- Click on Account Details.
- You will be directed to your browser, and the Netflix settings will open here. Click on the profile you want to manage changes for.
- Select Change next to Subtitle appearance.
- From here, you can change color, font, text size and add shadows to the font style. Once you are done, click Save, if you want to go back to the default style, select Reset to default.
Tip 6: Test Participation
If you are one of those people who like to try things before they become popular, then Netflix has that feature as well. You can preview features before they get a wide release.
-
- Open your Netflix app on your Windows 10 computer.
- Open the profile for which you want to change the settings for.
- Click on the three dots on the top right corner of the app.
- Select Settings.
- Click on Account Details.
- In the Settings section, click on Test participation.
- Turn the toggle switch On. Then select, Done.
I hope these Netflix tips help and add to your overall user experience.
