Make Your Telegram App Secure by Locking it Down Using Touch ID or Face ID on iPhone
If you are a Telegram user on iPhone, and want to boost your privacy a little and make your account secure, then you have the option to lock things down using a PIN code and Touch ID / Face ID. In today's tutorial, we'll show you how you can do that.
Tutorial
Step 1. Launch Telegram on your iPhone
Step 2. Tap on Settings at the bottom right hand corner
Step 3. Tap on Privacy and Security
Step 4. Now select Passcode & Face ID. It is important that you enable this feature in the first place if you care about your privacy. Also, this is required in order to enable Face ID and Touch ID unlock feature
Step 5. Once the PIN code is in place you will see a new option called Unlock with Face ID or Unlock with Touch ID. Tap to enable
That's it, whenever you launch Telegram app on your iPhone, it will ask you to authenticate using either Touch ID or Face ID. Basically, if someone does know your iPhone's passcode, they won't be able to jump into your conversation on Telegram.
Just like Telegram, you have the option to lock down WhatsApp as well. And it's great that services such as these are going the extra mile to ensure privacy of users in case they forget their phone somewhere lying around. But, what happens in the cloud when you hit that send button is anyone's guess at this point.
But, it's best to take the necessary precautions on your end to ensure maximum privacy and security. If something does go wrong after that, at least you can openly blame whoever is responsible.
We really wish Apple also allowed users to lock down certain apps using Touch ID or Face ID. Surprisingly, this luxury can be easily had if you have a jailbroken iPhone with the appropriate tweak installed. Without it, you're left on the mercy of the good old PIN code along with Face ID and Touch ID.
