Here’s how you can set your iPhone and iPad to always listen for ‘Hey Siri’ even if the display is covered or facing down on a table.
Have ‘Hey Siri’ Available to You at All Times Regardless of Where Your iPhone or iPad is, Just Enable this Option
While some may not agree at all, but Siri can prove to be useful in a wide variety of situations. For example, you are driving your car and you want to text someone - just say “Hey Siri, send a text message to John and tell him I’ll be late.” Using the power of your voice, you sent a text message without even touching your phone or tablet.
There’s a small problem here though. If your iPhone or iPad was lying face down, or the display was covered by something, Hey Siri would not work at all. You can shout as loud as you want, but Siri won’t listen. However, there is an option in iOS and iPadOS that lets you force-enable Hey Siri for good. Regardless of where your phone or tablet is, the feature will work every single time. Yes, even if it’s shoved deep inside a bag or a pocket.
Note: Please note that the Hey Siri feature is not available on all devices.
Step 1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
Step 2. Scroll down and tap on Accessibility.
Step 3. You’ll see a list of options here, find the one that is labeled Siri and tap on it to open.
Step 4. Enable the “Always Listen for Hey Siri” option here.
Once the option is enabled, you can check if it works by covering the display of your iPhone and iPad and just say “Hey Siri.” The screen should light up, ready to take in your commands.
Keep one thing in mind: now that your iPhone and iPad is constantly listening for the hotword, therefore it will use up more battery than usual. But the upside to all of this is a simple one: Siri is now available to you in every situation. This also means that you are prone to pranks from your friends and family members. They can simply say “Hey Siri, play Never Gonna Give You Up” and the Music app will take over.
