Taika Waititi, who ended up winning this year’s Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for ‘Jojo Rabbit’ has a complaint about Apple’s MacBook Pro keyboards. Apparently, they are ‘impossible to type on’ and judging from his horrible experience, Waititi states that using them makes him want to go back to a PC.
Waititi Says That Unlike PC Keyboards, MacBook Pro Ones Don’t ‘Bounce Back’
Taika Waititi states that the problem has become so severe that the Writers' Guild of America should take notice of what’s happening. When asked what are the most concerning issues for writers today, Waititi responded by saying the following.
“Apple needs to fix those keyboards, they are impossible to write on [and] they've gotten worse. It makes me want to go back to PCs. Because PC keyboards, the bounce-back for your fingers is way better. It's a way better keyboard and those Apple keyboards are horrendous.”
With the release of the 16-inch MacBook Pro, Apple was able to address the keyboard issues present in its 2016, 2017, and 2018 lineup of 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models by using a new switch mechanism for users. From his words, Waititi says that ‘they’ve gotten worse’, which implies that he might have used the Magic keyboard present on the 16-inch MacBook Pro. That’s rather strange to hear because according to several reviews, people have said that the typing experience is more tactile and better than what was offered on previous models.

He’s not the only well-known figure to bash Apple’s MacBook Pro. Musician Neil Young earlier called the machine ‘a piece of crap’ and compared its quality to a Fischer Price toy. It is difficult to determine which model Waititi was referring to. If it’s an early 2019 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro model, then we can sympathize with him as not just him, but a plethora of owners had some complaint or the other concerning the butterfly switch mechanism, for which Apple was also taken to court for.
