Red Dead Redemption 2 has been released almost a year ago on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Many are waiting for the announcement of a PC release, and it seems like such an announcement is closer than ever, judging from some recent findings.
GTA Forums member VideoTech UK took a good look at the game’s files and discovered lines of code that refer to PC settings like texture quality, anti-aliasing options, refresh rate and more. Some of these settings, like DirectX 12 support, were also found in the game’s companion app a couple of months back, but they were apparently nowhere to be found in the game’s files.
Howdy GTA Forums Community,
The long-awaited PC version for Red Dead Redemption 2 is definitely coming in the future, I have datamined Red Dead Redemption 2’s files and came across a file that holds PC presets and settings. For those who will doubt this leak, well there are monitor settings too (also attached to this post).
Have a look at the code found in the files. There is more code but most of it is grass quality, shader settings, particle settings, motion blur, etc. DirectX 12 support is coming to the PC port, the PC version will have DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 support. @Fun 2’s post a month ago also suggested DirectX 12 support in the RDR2 companion app code so yes it’s definitely coming.
PC Monitor Mentions
With these settings found in the Red Dead Redemption 2 game files, it feels like the announcement of the PC version is closer than ever. It’s almost a year since the game released on consoles, as already mentioned, so this announcement could be a very good way to celebrate the first Red Dead Redemption 2 anniversary.
If you have been waiting for a PC release of RDR2 you are definitely missing out a lot, as the game is among the best open-world games ever released.
Red Dead Redemption 2 may not be perfect, but its minor shortcomings are like tiny blemishes on a stunningly beautiful face. In a way, they only serve as a reminder of how this world isn’t made for perfection. Every single aspect of the game will put you into the very shoes of an outlaw roaming America with his gang as they try to escape the law long enough to make the money needed to disappear for good. It’s an epic, memorable and engrossing tale which also elevates the open world genre to new heights with the brand new interaction system, a cast of unforgettable characters and a ton of high-quality content to play for a long time.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One worldwide.
