PlayStation 5 To Feature AI-Powered Game Assistant, Patent Suggests

PlayStation 5

The PlayStation 5 is likely going to feature an innovative AI-powered in-game assistant, according to a new patent that has been spotted online.

The new patent, which has been spotted by Daniel Ahmad, is for something called PlayStation Assist, which should be an AI-powered voice assistant which will assist players during any games. This assistant will dynamically respond to a query depending on the player’s current status in-game.

While this isn’t going to be game changing for expert players who require no help in both single-player and multiplayer games, the PlayStation Assist is definitely going to be a nice addition for those who aren’t hardcore players and require some help completing games.

Earlier this month, we have reported that a PlayStation 5 Pro model could be released alongside a base model. According to a Japanese journalist with a good track record, Sony has taken this decision as it has acknowledged the interest in a high-end model and wants to give players what they want from the very beginning of the next console generation.

For the rest, we know that the PlayStation 5 will be powered by the third generation of AMD’s Ryzen line and that the GPU will support ray tracing.

The CPU is based on the third generation of AMD’s Ryzen line and contains eight cores of the company’s new 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture. The GPU, a custom variant of Radeon’s Navi family, will support ray tracing, a technique that models the travel of light to simulate complex interactions in 3D environments.

The PlayStation 5 console has yet to be fully unveiled. We will keep you updated on the console as soon as possible, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
