Pixel 4 Launch Month Could Be October, Suggests Tipster; Extensive Testing Reportedly Done by Carriers

Pixel 4 launch could be held in October

If the past is any indication, Google’s upcoming flagship smartphones will come out in fall, most likely in October. Towards the end of last month, an alleged image of the phone appeared online, indicating that the handset will be available at Sprint. Now a tipster has provided some notable information surrounding the Pixel 4 launch month, along with a few key details.

Pixel 4 & Pixel 4 XL Will Presumably Be Available With More Carriers Than the Pixel 3 Range

According to Max Weinbach, Google reportedly gave the Pixel 4 to most U.S. carriers back in July. Apparently, these carriers, which also include T-Mobile and Verizon, have been running tests related to the modem and software. Additionally, he alleges that October is indeed the Pixel 4 launch month.

As for the exact date, we can expect the search giant to announce the Pixel 4 series at the beginning of October. They will presumably go on sale by the end of the month, like past Pixel models. The fourth-generation Pixel has leaked heavily already, and interestingly, two of its features, including the design having been confirmed by Google itself.

First off, the Pixel 4 family is guaranteed to come with a square bump on the back to house the multi-sensor camera array. It looks like the phone will get three rear sensors, supposedly a primary sensor, a telephoto unit, and presumably a depth sensor, although that’s just speculation and we’ll wait for more updates to come through.

According to another teaser posted by Google, the phones will not have a notch. Instead, there will be a sizeable bezel, which will most likely house the selfie snapper, the 3D face recognition technology and a Soli sensor for gesture-based controls. On the design front, the dual color scheme has apparently been retired. The phone is expected to feature a 90Hz display and will reportedly get wireless charging support as well.

When the mid-ranger Pixel 3a was released back in May, Google expanded its carriers list and it seems like it will be doing the same with the Pixel 4 launch. This move might enable Google to ship around more units as overall availability for future customers will increase. This is just what the company needs, as the Pixel 3 series sales figures weren’t exactly heartening and it looks like Google may have learnt its lesson from previous mistakes.

Still, it remains to be seen if the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL pricing will be lower or equivalent to that of the competition and if both devices can offer notable features as opposed to their predecessors.

Does the Pixel 4 XL design feature a massive and appreciated change in these renders when compared to the Pixel 3 XL?
