The launch of the Snapdragon 855 Plus from Qualcomm only paved the way for better things to come, and here it is, allegedly, in the form of the Snapdragon 865. Whispers of the company’s SoC started back in August last year, with information stating that Qualcomm was apparently tweaking the silicon since June 2018. Well you won’t have to wait any longer to see the kind of gains expected because the first Snapdragon 865 benchmark has apparently come through, revealing a performance increase in both single-core and multi-core results.
Tipster States Early Scores Are for Reference Purposes Only And Do Not Represent What the Final SoC Will Be Able to Attain
Ice Universe has shared the first image of what appears to be a Snapdragon 865 benchmark from Geekbench. Compared to the Snapdragon 855 Plus’ Geekbench results for the Black Shark 2 Pro, the gains are noteworthy. Where the Snapdragon 855 Plus obtained single-core and multi-core scores of 3462 and 10765, respectively, the Snapdragon 865 has allegedly garnered 4160 and 12946 in the same categories.
Other details include a reference device running Android Q, along with 6GB of RAM. However, one eagle-eyed Max Weinbach on the Twitter thread stated as to why the screenshot reveals the term ‘msmnile’, which is actually the codenamed belonging to the Snapdragon 855. Looks like we’ll find out later when additional Snapdragon 865 performance metrics come forth. For now, the tipster states that these are early results and are meant for reference purposes only. This suggests that the actual Snapdragon 865 may, or may not exhibit better performance than what you’re seeing right now.

Samsung’s Galaxy S11 range is expected to be the first to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865. Earlier rumors have predicted that the upcoming silicon will apparently arrive in two variants. In one version, the Snapdragon X55 5G modem will be embedded with the rest of the chip die, while the second one will not, making the latter cheaper for Qualcomm’s OEM partners integrate into their non-5G-ready devices while still being able to deliver the best performance.
Of course, we’ll recommend that you treat these scores with a pinch of salt as it’s very early to comment on the authenticity of these results. Qualcomm is expected to announce the Snapdragon 865 in December of this year, and by then, we’ll know nearly everything there is to know about the company’s latest and greatest chipset.
