OnePlus 5/5T 6/6T Get a Host of New Features via Different OxygenOS Builds

OxygenOS Open Beta

OnePlus has had a good track record of rolling out perioding updates and security patches to all their devices; regardless of age. The company also makes it a point to trickle down some features exclusive devices to older ones. Today, the nearly two-year-old OnePlus 5/5T gets the updated Screen recorder, quick reply in landscape mode, and Fnatic gaming mode via the latest stable Oxygen OS 9.0.7 update.  Here’s the full changelog:

System

  • Updated Android security patch to 2019.6
  • Added Screen recorder feature (Quick Settings – Edit – Screen Recorder)
  • Added Quick reply in landscape (Settings – Utilities – Quick reply in landscape)

Gaming mode

  • Added Fnatic mode (Settings – Utilities – Gaming mode)

Phone

  • Fixed issue with Speed Dial

The build is a hefty 500MB in size and brings with it the June security patches. To check for the update manually, head over to your Settings > System updates and manually refresh. It is very likely, a staged rollout so you may have to wait a little bit.

OnePlus 6/6T gets DC Dimming and More via OxygenOS beta 23/15

The latest Oxygen OS Open beta updates 23 and 15 are now rolling out for OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T respectively. The build brings the new enhanced Screen recorder settings, DC Dimming feature, and some further OS tweaks. The full changelog is as follows

System

  • General bug fixes and stability improvements

Screen Recorder

  • Hide floating widget while recording
  • More options added for resolution, fps, and bit rate

OnePlus Laboratory

  • Brand new UI design
  • Added DC dimming feature

Weather

  • Added popular cities for search suggestions

The other changes are mostly cosmetic and minor QoL improvements. DC Dimming is making its way to an increasing number of devices that come with an AMOLED panel. It is helpful for people to display flicker at low brightness levels and helps them by regulating the amount of DC current that flows through the circuit, which in turn reduces the flicker on the screen. The update is available to all users on the beta channel and should arrive OTA. If you’re on a stable build of the OS, you’ll need to completely wipe your phone and flash the appropriate beta build on your device.
